World No. 1 Nelly Korda is dominating the golf world and is considered by many to be the best golfer, regardless of gender.
She has achieved an incredible feat by winning four consecutive LPGA Tour events this year. Most recently, Korda emerged victorious at The T-Mobile Match Play event held at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.
The 25-year-old is now aiming for her fifth win of the season at The Chevron Championship in Houston, which is also the first major tournament of the year.
Korda recently sat down with ESPN analyst Shae Peppler Cornette to talk about her historic winning streak.
Reflecting on her exceptional performance, Korda shared, “Sometimes it clicks. When you’re playing this well, everything just falls into place. You’re in your own bubble, enjoying the competition, the different weather conditions, and the variety of golf courses.”
Despite the upcoming major championship, Korda is maintaining her usual preparation routine without adding extra pressure.
She explained, “I’m not going to change anything. I’m savoring the incredible journey I’ve been on and the amazing support system around me that keeps me grounded.”
Korda has made history by becoming only the third player, alongside Lorena Ochoa (2008) and Annika Sorenstam (2004, 2005), to win four consecutive tournaments.
This remarkable achievement is rare, and Korda is taking it one week at a time.
During the discussion with Cornette, they touched upon Korda being the new face of women’s golf and her potential to inspire future generations, especially young girls, to pursue the sport authentically.
Korda emphasized, “My focus is on staying true to myself, loving the game, and hopefully motivating others to do the same. It’s not about the sponsorships or money, but about the joy of competing and embracing every moment on the course.”
Korda is determined to secure her fifth victory of the season and her second major title. She will tee off with Minjee Lee and Lilia Vu at 2:10 p.m. ET, televised on ESPN+ as one of the featured groups.
